The Georgia Bulldogs will have no shortage of tough opponents in 2026. In fact, eight of their 12 opponents had a winning record in 2025. That schedule also includes nine SEC teams and three teams who were in the College Football Playoff.
However, after CBS Sports just released their first mock draft for 2027, they could have an even tougher opponent after the regular season. Enter the Texas Longhorns.
CBS Sports also has Georgia and Texas tied for the highest over/under win projections in the SEC at 9.5 as well. Even though they are not slated to meet in the regular season, it could be highly likely they meet again in Atlanta with an SEC Championship on the line as they did two years ago.
Arch Manning, Texas offense are a serious threat in 2026
In Cooper Petagna's 2027 NFL Mock Draft, he has Arch Manning as the first overall pick. Honestly, this does not come as much of a shock. Manning is expected to be a Heisman contender and fully in-tune with the system at Texas for his junior year. However, it is what comes after Manning that should raise eyebrows.
Four out of the first five players in the mock draft's first round are on the offensive side of the ball for Texas, which includes Manning and two scary receivers in Ryan Wingo and incoming transfer Cam Coleman.
Even though Georgia has won the past three contests against Texas, they should not take this game lightly if it were to happen. Manning is likely going to have his best season yet at Texas, and he has an NFL draft ready offensive line in front of him.
Georgia's priority should without question be one game at a time. You can't make it to the big game in Atlanta without first taking care of business against teams like Alabama and Ole Miss on the road first. However, it is always fun to look ahead.
And looking ahead, this could be a "game of the century" type of matchup.
