Georgia football's first day of fall camp is in the books. Countless things stood out about the first day of camp, but these three things stood out above everything else.
1. Gunner Stockton took reps before Ryan Puglisi
The quarterback competition between Gunner Stockton and Ryan Puglisi is the first thing anyone wants to talk about when it comes to Georgia football. Neither player has been named the starter yet, but it more than likely will be Stockton. That sentiment became a little more real during Thursday's practice as Stockton was seen taking the first reps before Puglisi.
The media were only able to watch practice for a short amount of time on Thursday, and the quarterbacks only worked with the running backs during this window as well. But this could be yet another clue that Stockton is leading the quarterback competition right now.
2. Offensive tackle Jah Jackson is still with the team
No one knew entering Thursday's practice if Jah Jackson would be with the team or not. Jackson was arrested a few weeks ago, so that made his standing with the team unclear, but Jackson was at practice with the rest of the team on Thursday and was operating as if nothing had happened.
Kirby Smart was asked about this situation during his press conference, and Smart said that he would be disciplined internally. Smart also confirmed that Jackson would remain with the team, so it appears his standing on Georgia's roster is still secure
3. Georgia's health is as good as ever
Potentially the most exciting update shared by Smart on Thursday is that he believes his team is as healthy as they have been in the last five years at the start of fall camp. After the 2024 season that saw Georgia constantly plagued with injuries, it is nice to see something finally go their way on that front.
Hopefully injury luck stays on Georgia's side throughout the next month, but for now the Bulldogs are in about as good of a position as possible when it comes to the health of their team.
