Wednesday marks Georgia football's annual Pro Day where the Bulldogs heading to the NFL Draft will have one more opportunity to show NFL scouts what they are made of and why they should use one of their coveted picks on them.
Whether someone had a good performance or they struggled at the NFL Combine a few weeks ago, it is important to have a great workout because the last thing anyone wants to do is make a bad impression that last time an NFL team sees them. Regardless of the circumstances, this workout is potentially the most important workout of each player's life, so it goes without saying that Wednesday is a big day in Athens.
Each player participating in Georgia's Pro Day needs to have a great day, but these three player arguably need to have the best performances.
DB Dan Jackson
Defensive back Dan Jackson quickly became a fan favorite at Georgia because of his story of starting as a walk-on to becoming a full time starter. Not only does he have a great story, but he has the stats to beack it up as well as he recorded 64 tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two interceptions during the 2024 season.
Jackson however was one of the few Bulldogs not invited to the NFL Combine, which did not make much sense at all. So this will be the only opportunity for Jackson to show scouts why that was a mistake and why they should use a draft pick on him.
LB Chaz Chambliss
Going along the same lines as Jackson, linebacker Chaz Chambliss was also not invited to the Combine a few weeks ago, but his exclusion might be even more egregious than Jackson.
Chambliss is coming off the 2024 season where he led the team in sacks with 6.5. He also tallied 41 total tackles and a fumble recovery as well.
Chambliss feels like a player who will still get drafted because how could a team not be interested in someone who recorded 6.5 sacks last season, but a great Pro Day would be extremely helpful to ensure someone does use a draft pick on him.
Safety Malaki Starks
Last but not least is safety Malaki Starks. It might be a little surprising to see Starks listed here because he is a consensus first round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, but he didn't have the best performance at the Combine a few weeks ago.
Heading into the Combine, Starks was the No. 1 safety in the Draft, but not everyone thought he lived up to the expectations that come with that label. In fact, some went as far as to say that he was one of the biggest "losers" at the Combine.
Starks' draft stock fortunately did not drop much after the Combine, but another shaky performance at Georgia's Pro Day could do just that. So hopefully he is able to prove everyone wrong and once again show why he is the top safety in the draft this year.
