The biggest game of the weekend is undoubtedly Georgia's clash with Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The night game featuring two top six teams is all the nation can talk about. When Georgia and Alabama meet, everyone knows it will be a memorable game.
However, there are still three games going on within the SEC that Georgia fans should keep an eye on before their matchup against the Crimson Tide. Games that could potentially determine not only their strength of record, but how their whole season shakes out.
1. Texas A&M vs Missouri
The Missouri Tigers made the biggest statement in college football last week when they throttled what was the No. 8 team in the country Florida Gators. That win was able to push Missouri up to No. 14 in the latest AP Poll.
This week they will face another home field challenge as they face a Texas A&M team that has everything to lose. If the Tigers win this game there is a likely chance Missouri's game in Athens against Georgia in November will be a top 25 showdown. This week will determine whether last week's win against Florida was either luck or if Missouri is a legit playoff contender.
2. South Carolina vs Florida
Florida and South Carolina are two teams that come into Saturday after rough showings the week before. Florida lost by four touchdowns to a team that they were favored to beat and the Gamecocks, for a second time this season, blew a 16+ point lead. This game is a make-or-break for both programs for the season, but for two distinct reasons.
South Carolina is already out of the playoff hunt with three losses, but if they lose this game their remaining schedule makes it hard to see anything other than a winless SEC record on the year and no bowl game for the second straight season. For Florida, it looked like they could be serious playoff contenders after their first four games. However, their remaining schedule features No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Georgia, so if they drop this game it will take a miracle for them to make the playoff.
3. Texas vs Oklahoma
Never disregard the Red River Rivalry no matter what the odds show or what the teams are ranked. This rivalry runs deep, and you can never count a team out no matter the score.
Georgia could use some of their previous opponents to start winning more games to bump up their strength of record. Right now they do not have any wins against a currently ranked team. Oklahoma has the elite defense to make that happen, and if they pulled off an upset win against Texas they could potentially slide in the next AP Poll at 24 or 25.
This game might be the most impactful on the day for Georgia with Texas being one of their biggest competitors in the SEC, so all eyes should be on this intense rivalry on Saturday.
