4-star Andrew Beard’s new commitment timeline is bad news for Georgia

Andrew Beard is one of the final running backs that Georgia is showing interest in. He is a four-star recruit from the state of Georgia that Kirby Smart has been prioritizing for the last few months, and he’s been giving Georgia a lot of attention as well.

Beard originally planned to commit after taking all of his official visits this summer, but those plans just changed as he now intends to commit on May 8. Georgia is one of his four finalists and as the in-state school typically would have a good shot to land him, but right now it’s looking like the exact opposite is true.

In fact, it is Florida and Clemson who are out in front and it seems like it’s just a matter of time until this recruitment goes down as a loss for Georgia.

Georgia only has to wait one more week to find out where Beard will commit too. At one point it looked like they had a great chance to win his recruitment, but after 247Sports logged predictions in favor of Florida and Clemson that no longer is the case.

Beard originally planned to commit later this summer which would’ve given Smart time to catch back up in this recruitment, but this new timeline will make it very difficult for Georgia to come from behind.

Losing this recruitment wouldn’t be all that bad though. Georgia already has two running backs committed to their 2027 class which includes the No. 1 back in the country in Kemon Spell. So it makes sense why Beard wouldn’t want to come to Georgia even if Smart really wants him.

Missing on other running backs seems to be a common theme as the No. 2 back in the country is fading from Georgia too. But as long as Smart is able to keep both of his current commits in their recruiting class then any potential loss really isn’t that bad.
