There are a few things that are standard in college football recruiting classes. More often than not teams will add one quarterback every cycle, a few receivers and large contingent of offensive linemen.

When it comes to running backs most programs add one or two players every recruiting class. Kirby Smart reportedly is challenging that narrative as he is looking to add a third running back to his 2027 recruiting class.

Kirby Smart is challenging the status quo at Georgia that dominates college recruiting

Georgia already has two running backs committed to their 2027 recruiting class. One of those commits is the current star of Georgia’s class in five-star Kemon Spell. He is the No. 7 overall player in the country and the No. 1 running back in this class, so holding onto his committment is Georgia’s top priority.

The other running back committed to Georgia is three-star Noah Parker. He clearly isn’t as big of a commitment as Spell, but if Smart accepted his commitment this early in the cycle then he is someone Georgia clearly wanted.

Typically this is when most schools would stop recruiting running backs, but that isn’t the case for Georgia. Smart has made it a priority to recruit four-star Andrew Beard even though they already have two other backs committed to Georgia.

Beard is an extremely talented recruit that Georgia would be lucky to have. According to the 247Sports composite rankings he is the No. 151 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 8 running back and the No. 14 player from the state of Georgia.

The top priority for Georgia is holding onto Spell’s commitment, but adding Beard would be a home run. Georgia already has one of the best running back rooms in the country this year, but bringing all three of these backs to Athens next year would help make that a reality for years to come.
