This weekend Georgia had a couple elite recruits officially visiting campus. One of those players was four-star offensive lineman Carter Jones.
Jones is one of Kirby Smart's top offensive line recruits that he wants in Georgia's recruiting class. The only problem is that he has been leaning towards Clemson the past few weeks, but his visit to Athens this weekend reportedly made him make a big change to the timeline of his recruitment.
Up until now it wasn't known when he might commit, but apparently he is getting a lot closer to announcing his commitment after visiting Georgia's G-Day.
OL Carter Jones wants to make his decision as early as possible, and he was in Athens this weekend for his official visit to Georgia.

4-star Carter Jones is ready to commit after visiting Georgia
According to the 247Sports composite rankings Jones is the No. 402 overall player in the country. That means he isn't the best recruit in the country, but when Smart really wants a player then who cares where they are ranked.
In recruiting it is important to know that anything a recruit does could mean everything or nothing at all. So the fact that Jones said he is nearing a final decision right after visiting Athens could mean that Georgia made up a lot of ground, but at the same time it could just be a coincidence.
Georgia has a few other schools who are making moves for Jones as well. Last week he took an official visit to Penn State and this coming weekend he will head to Tennessee. Either one of these schools could also be making up ground on Clemson as well, so it's hard to read into this announcement from Jones.
But Jones does have an official visit scheduled to Clemson in May. There are also a few predictions in favor of Clemson as well that were placed on 247Sports a few weeks ago. So the Tigers are still the team to beat right now.
Georgia could be the new team trending after his visit this weekend, but he also could've learned that UGA isn't the school for him. The good news is that fans should get a final decision from Jones in the coming weeks as he looks to end his recruitment early, and Smart isn't going to give up.
