Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has been getting good news quite a bit this week on the recruiting trail, and this next piece of news could end up being good for Smart as well. 4-star wide receiver Vance Spafford visited Georgia this past weekend, even after being committed to the Bulldogs since November of 2024. However, Spafford has still been taking a lot of official visits, but he now has one less on the list.
Spafford had an official visit scheduled with Miami this upcoming weekend, but has since cancelled the trip. This is a big win for Smart and the Bulldogs, as that is one less program that has the opportunity to steal Spafford away from Georgia.
The young California native did still have official visits with Washington, UCLA, and Colorado, but it seems like he is going to stick with Georgia, as he has been since last year. Even though those three schools are closer to home for Spafford, Miami would have probably been the biggest threat to the Bulldogs with the type of money they could have offered, which was why Jackson Cantwell chose the Hurricanes a few weeks ago.
Either way, this is a big win for Smart, and it seems like Spafford is staying put.

Kirby Smart is putting together yet another elite class for 2026
If there is one thing that Kirby Smart has proven is that he knows how to ave long-term forms of success, and it is being shown in his ability to recruit. If Smart didn't know how to recruit well, Georgia would be a lot more up and down throughout the years, but the Bulldogs are always competing at the highest level and have a chance every season to win a national title.
Smart is currently ranked in the top 10 of all three major recruiting lists from 247Sports to On3Sports and then to Rivals. The Bulldogs have one of the top classes of recruits so far, and it is all thanks to Smart and his coaching staff putting together impressive visits to each and every recruit.
