Georgia football had a great day on the recruiting trail on Saturday as Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs earned their sixth commitment in the 2026 class. However, Georgia did get an unfortunate update on Saturday as well.
Rivals recently named four players in the SEC who are on “flip watch,” and four-star corner Jontavius Wyman was on that list.
Wyman has been committed to Georgia since last July, but that commitment now appears to be up in the air after this recent statement from Rivals. But Rivals isn’t the only recruiting site commenting on Wyman’s potential flip as On3’s Chad Simmons reported three schools who are aggressively pursuing Wyman.

3 schools targeting Jontavius Wyman
Wyman recently spoke with On3 and shared that Miami (FL) and USC are recruiting him the hardest while Nebraska is still hanging around as well. The good news for Georgia is that this is the extent of the update that was shared, so this statement alone really isn’t that bad.
Almost every recruit in the country will continue hearing from other schools even after they announce a commitment, and if they aren’t then that might be an indication that other schools don’t think that recruit is very good. So Wyman being courted by other programs isn’t all that bad because he hasn’t said he’s paying much attention to them.
However, combining this report from On3 and the statement from Rivals paints a slightly different picture. Even if Wyman hasn’t said he is interested in flipping to other programs, the fact that multiple sites have shared similar updates is not a good sign for Georgia.
But this isn’t the first time a Georgia commit has received interest from other programs, and it won’t be the last either. Smart is one of the best recruiters in the country, so the expectation should be that Wyman isn’t going anywhere and will end up in Georgia’s class when it’s all said and done.
