5-star EDGE might be using Georgia for more money

Georgia received some new hope from five-star EDGE LaDamion Guyton on Friday when it comes to his recruitment. Guyton committed to Texas Tech in August and he has remained committed ever since, but he discussed on Friday how difficult it will be to not play for Georgia who has always been his dream school.

This clearly was a great thing to hear since he is a top 10 player in the 2026 class, but is it actually a good sign for Georgia? Or is he just saying this to try and get more money from Texas Tech?

LaDamion Guyton may be using Georgia for more NIL

Ever since Guyton committed to Texas Tech he has made sure to keep Georgia around in his recruitment. He has said multiple times now how much he loves Georgia and that he can see himself playing there, but he is yet to ditch Texas Tech for UGA.

Earlier this month Guyton announced that he was taking another visit to Georgia. But then a couple days later he randomly cancelled that visit. This made it seem like Georgia’s chances in this recruitment were gone, that is until Guyton said how difficult it will be for him to not play for UGA.

It’s hard to know at this point if Guyton actually has interest in Georgia or not. Sure he keeps saying he does, but his actions say otherwise. And knowing how Texas Tech has turned into a program that is willing to spend a lot of NIL money for any recruit, it seems like he might be keeping Georgia involved in his recruitment just to try and get the Red Raiders to increase their NIL offer to him.

At this point though it seems like Georgia still has a chance to land Guyon, but no one should hold their breath based on the last few months of his recruitment.
