Jayden Wade, Georgia’s prized five-star quarterback commit in the 2028 class, has been rumored to have interest in reclassifying to the 2027 class. If he reclassified he would come to Georgia next year instead of two years from now, and that would change the trajectory of Georgia’s future at quarterback beginning with the 2027 season.
Recently Wade was asked about the potential to reclassify, and he put the rumors to bed by immediately shooting down the idea by saying he is staying in the 2028 class.
“It’s been talked about my reclassing up, but I’m going to stay down,” Wade said via dawgnation.com. “I’m going to stay in my class and get the full development because when I get to the next level it’s so big about the mental.”

Even though rumors of him potentially reclassifying were widespread, it turns out they were always just rumors. Wade himself is now confirming that he won’t reclassify to the 2027 class, and it sounds like there’s absolutely no chance he changes his mind.
Wade said he wants to get as much development as he can in high school before heading to college. That is one of the wisest things anyone in his position could say. He knows he is a great player but at the same time he knows there is a lot he can still improve in, so instead of rushing to college he’s remaining patient so he can be the best player he can possibly be before he gets there.
Georgia would’ve welcomed Wade to Athens with open arms if he decided to reclassify, but at the end of the day this decision might be in their best interest.

Georgia already has a quarterback commit in the 2027 class. Colton Nussmeier is that player and he’s one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 class. If Wade reclassified that could cause Nussmeier to commit to a different school, but now Georgia won’t have to worry about losing his commitment.
When Wade arrives in 2028 they will also have Nussmeier, assuming he doesn’t transfer, and having both elite quarterbacks in Athens is a luxury Georgia should be thankful for.
Georgia will head into the 2027 offseason in a quarterback battle due to Gunner Stockton’s departure after this season. If Wade reclassified he would’ve had a chance to win that battle, and the potential of that happening could’ve caused Ryan Puglisi or Ryan Montgomery to transfer. They both however will likely stay and compete for the job next offseason, so Wade staying in the 2028 class gives Georgia a good chance to keep both Ryan’s on their roster next year.
All that’s left for Georgia to do is hold onto Wade’s commitment until next December when he can sign with the program. A few programs are lurking in the shadows, but so far Wade only has a fall visit scheduled to Georgia. As long as that remains the case then Georgia shouldn’t have anything to worry about, and before they know it he’ll be arriving on campus in the spring of 2028.
