Kemon Spell is Georgia’s highest ranked commit in their 2027 class up to this point. He is a five-star running back and the No. 7 overall player in the country, so he will be a difficult recruit to top.

Many would assume that Georgia had to make a large NIL offer to earn his commitment, but that might not be entirely true. It’s unclear what NIL offer was made to him, but Spell recently said that NIL money was the last thing he cared about during his recruitment.

”The money is last for me,” said Spell via ugafootballlive.com.

5-star Kemon Spell’s NIL philosophy matched Georgia’s vibe

Spell was pursued by a lot of big programs after decommitting from Penn State last year. This includes Notre Dame and Penn State who were both thought to be the favorites over Georgia in his recruitment.

With so many big programs also pursuing Spell it wouldn’t have been surprising to find out that they were making large NIL offers to try and win him over. But knowing that he never really cared about that explains why he ended up choosing Georgia.

Kirby Smart has said that he will never overspend for any recruit out of high school. So there likely was a good chance that there were higher offers on the table for Spell, but that didn’t matter to him. Spell fell in love with Georgia because of their history of success, their culture and ability to get players to the NFL. Those are things that all mattered more to Spell than money, and that’s likely why he ultimately chose Georgia.

Now that Spell is committed it’s important to keep him in Georgia’s class. That however is thankfully the last thing anyone will need to worry about until he officially signs with Georgia in December.
