Five-star Kemon Spell is the No. 1 running back in the country. He has also been committed to Georgia since February which is great for UGA, but a new rumor popped up this week that there was a new team making progress in his recruitment.

The team lurking in the shadows hasn't been publicly named yet, but 247Sports reported that it was a "big player." Their comments also made it seem like Spell had genuine interest in them as well.

Spell is Georgia's highest ranked commit in the 2027 class, so losing him would be a big blow. Spell however took to social media late Wednesday night and responded to a comment about him potentially flipping with a "Go Dawgs."

Many schools have courted Kemon Spell since committing to Georgia

Other schools haven't left Spell alone since he committed to Georgia in February. That's to be expected though whenever Georgia has a commitment from one of the best players in the country, so that isn't any reason to be overly concerned.

Before this week Spell had shot down any school's attempt to flip him. He has also been extremely public about turning down these schools which has helped Georgia feel good about where they've stood with him since he committed.

The latest team to make a push for him still isn't known, but this report seemed different from the others. This report implied that he actually had some interest in them, but Spell's social media message on Wednesday makes it seem like he is once again reminding everyone that he is sticking with Georgia no matter what.

That could be true, but at this point anything Spell says should be taken with a grain of salt.

Georgia has lost many players over the years who have flipped to other schools. Some have been more public than others, but every year there are a couple players who change their mind after being committed to Georgia. That will continue to be the case every year like it is at every other school, so that's just part of recruiting.

Last year Georgia lost five-star quarterback Jared Curtis' commitment. He seemed locked in with Georgia for months, but then he started to slowly slip away from UGA. That began with similar messages just like Spell where he initially shot down having any interest in Vanderbilt when their attempts to flip him first became public, but he ultimately flipped to the Commodores anyways.

Any player can say whatever they want on social media, that doesn't mean it is true. There is a chance Spell is genuinely shooting down the idea that he has interest in another school, but it's just as likely that he's trying to get the attention off him so he can pursue this mystery school in private.

Georgia won't know with 100 percent certainty that he will be a Bulldog until he signs in December. That is the case with every recruit though, so no matter what Spell says fans should know that there is always a chance he could break Georgia's heart and flip to another school.
