5-star Georgia commit Kemon Spell immediately dispels Miami flip rumor

On Wednesday Rivals reported that Miami was making a push to flip five-star running back commit Kemon Spell from Georgia. Just a few hours later Spell took to social media and reacted directly to this report claiming "This is not true."

Spell was once committed to Penn State, but after they fired former head coach James Franklin during the 2025 season he decommitted from the Nittany Lions. Throughout the following months Georgia and Miami were two schools that heavily pursued him, but in the end he chose to commit to Georgia on Feb. 2.

Since then Spell has had to dispel multiple rumors that he is interested in other schools. This Miami rumor was just the latest example of a flip rumor, but Georgia can rejoice because their five-star running back commit isn't going anywhere right now.

5-star Kemon Spell again proved he is the perfect Georgia commit

Spell is the No. 1 running back in the 2027 recruiting class as well as the No. 6 overall player in the country. That naturally brings a lot of attention and interest from other schools, but since committing to Georgia he has not reciprocated any of that interest from other programs.

On top of that, Spell has visited Georgia multiple times since committing in February. These visits not only confirm the love he is for Georgia, but he has been helping Kirby Smart recruit other players on these visits as well.

Spell also has come out and said that NIL wasn't a big factor when he chose to commit to Georgia. This matches the vibe Smart wants out of his players because he wants them to care about playing football and winning championships, not the number in their bank account.

Also, when comparing Spell's feelings towards NIL to fellow five-star running back David Gabriel-Georges who searched for the biggest NIL offer he could find, it becomes even more clear how great of a fit Spell is for Georgia.

Kemon Spell gave Georgia a win over Miami that's become far too uncommon

Miami is one of the schools Georgia has struggled to recruit against the most over the past few years. Over the past few recruiting cycles they have stolen their fair share of recruits who were committed to Georgia, so seeing them targeting Spell likely made a lot of people at Georgia nervous at first.

Last year in the 2026 recruiting class they took two commits from Georgia. This included elite wide receiver Vance Spafford and defensive back Jontavius Wyman. Then in the 2027 class they already flipped five-star corner Dante Wright from Georgia.

Then there is former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck who shockingly transferred to Miami during the 2025 offseason as well.

Miami has already taken too many players from Georgia, so Spell choosing Georgia over them is a breath of fresh air. It's probably unlikely that the Hurricanes will completely give up on him, but for now Georgia doesn't have to be worried about where things stand with Spell.
