About one month ago Georgia was in the running for five-star running back David Gabriel Georges. They were battling Ohio State, Tennessee and Ole Miss for his commitment, but he ultimately chose to cancel his official visit to Georgia and end his relationship with UGA.
This most was expected though because Georgia already has a five-star running back committed to their recruiting class in Kemon Spell. It'd be a bit strange if Gabriel Georges wanted to play alongside him instead of being the featured back somewhere else, so this "loss" didn't really bother anyone at Georgia.
Gabriel Georges recruitment really ramped up since moving on from Georgia. Tennessee and Ohio State separated themselves even more, and it's the Vols were just predicted to win his commitment later this week. That could spell trouble since they're in the SEC, but the way his recruitment unfolded should make Georgia fans even more relieved that they got Spell instead.

David Gabriel Georges proved that Georgia got the 5-star RB they needed the most
Gabriel Georges recruitment has been the most talked about recruitment over the last month. That is somewhat expected since he is such a highly ranked recruit, but the reasons his recruitment was talked about so much will make Georgia relieved that they were no longer involved.
For starters, Gabriel Georges is going to be the highest paid running back recruit of all time. He is expected to sign an NIL deal for over $2 million for his freshman season alone, and someone who cares this much about NIL will never be a good culture fit at Georgia.
On top of that, part of his NIL deal includes huge benefits to his family. Most of these benefits involve making it easy for them to attend his games which doesn't sound that bad, but rumors are swirling that Tennessee is offering them a private jet to fly them to all of his games. Now that is crazy.
Gabriel Georges also did everything he could to garner as much attention as possible. There was so much drama throughout his recruitment with family members openly talking about his thought process and Gabriel Georges sharing DMs that people were sending him on social media. He seems like someone who wants all of the attention, and there is no room for someone like that in Athens.
At the end of the day though it's looking like Tennessee is going to get a really good player, but is it worth it? Most schools would probably love to sign up for all of this drama if it meant having Gabriel Georges on their team, but for Georgia they are even more ecstatic to have Spell instead.
David Gabriel Georges reminded Georgia how lucky they are to have Kemon Spell
Spell is the complete opposite from Gabriel Georges. For starters, after Spell decommitted from Penn State last year there was very little known about his recruitment. In fact, he looked like he was going to play for a different school, but he kept his recruitment close to is chest until he announced that he was committing to Georgia because he didn't want all of the attention.
Spell also did not discuss NIL publicly at all. So instead of every detail of his NIL deal becoming public like with Gabriel Georges, no one knows a single thing about his deal with Georgia.
But the biggest reason of all that proves Georgia is happy to have Spell over Gabriel Georges is because Spell is the better player. Spell is the No. 1 running back in the country while Gabriel Georges is the No. 2 running back. So Georgia gets the better player of the two and doesn't have to deal with all of this drama.
Sounds like Smart just found a way to beat Tennessee again.
