Five-star running back David Gabriel Georges announced his final four schools. This ended up being a big deal for Georgia because they were included in his top four.
Ohio State, Tennessee and Ole Miss also made the cut as well.
Gabriel Georges is someone that Georgia has been after for a long time. They however have dialed back their interest in him over the past few months, especially after landing fellow five-star running back Kemon Spell. But Gabriel Georges for some reason still put UGA in his top four which excited some fans.
However, it’s pretty clear that they have no chance at landing him, so this may just be an example of a player using Georgia for attention.

Georgia has no chance to land 5-star David Gabriel Georges
While it may seem nice to be included in his top four, Georgia shouldn’t expect to win this recruitment. The biggest reason why is because of the commitment they already have from Spell who is ranked higher than Gabriel Georges. So why would he want to go to a school who already has a five-star back in his same class?
Beyond that it is public knowledge that this is a battle between Ohio State and in-state program Tennessee. That’s been known for a few months, but Rivals’ Chad Simmons confirmed that immediately after he announced his top four.

So why would he still include Georgia as a finalist? Having as many big name programs as a finalist will increase the amount of attention their recruitment and commitment gets. There aren’t many programs that are bigger than Georgia, so naming them a finalist will bring a lot more eyeballs on him.
Sure there is a chance he could shock the world and pick Georgia, but this isn’t a victory anyone in Athens should expect.
