Five-star running back Derrek Cooper is scheduled to announce his commitment on July 20. On this day Cooper will decide between Georgia, Texas, Florida State, Ohio State and Miami (FL).

Georgia fans have been hopeful this would be a commitment UGA would win, especially after a Georgia insider predicted UGA would come out on top. Cooper however no longer appears to be trending to Georgia as On3 insiders Eric Nahlin and Justin Wells have logged official predictions for Texas to win Cooper’s recruitment.

Georgia predicted to lose key recruit to Texas again

Unfortunately this trend of Texas beating Georgia for key recruits is becoming far too common. On Tuesday the Longhorns were able to earn a commitment from five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson, who is the No. 1 player from the state of Georgia. On top of that, five-star defensive lineman Derrek Cooper flipped his commitment from Georgia to Texas on Tuesday as well.

Now it appears that Georgia is going to lose their third commitment to Texas this week as Cooper is trending to commit to the Longhorns on July 20.

Not only is Georgia losing all of these recruitments to Texas, but their quarterback commit just passed Jared Curtis in the recruiting rankings as well. Curtis dropped from No. 3 to No. 4 in the 247Sports rankings on Wednesday, and it was Texas commit Dia Bell who jumped up to that No. 3 spot.

The good news for Georgia is that even after all of these losses to Texas, the Bulldogs still reign supreme over the Longhorns. Georgia beat Texas not once, but twice last season en route to their SEC Championship. So as long as UGA continues to beat Texas on the field, the Longhorns won’t have any ground to stand on no matter what happens on the recruiting trail.
