Five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson is nearing a final decision. Atkinson hasn't shared what day he plans to commit yet, but Wednesday he did say it will be really soon after announcing who his final four schools are.
Georgia is one of the four schools Atkinson will be deciding on when he announces his commitment, and there are plenty of things to like about UGA from Aktinson's perspective. And on Thursday Atkinson publicly shared what he loves most about Georgia that would make him want to commit to UGA.
"The Dawgs' standard of passion, fire, and energy is an obsession for me. Coach Kirby and Schumann's past development of linebackers is next level, which makes them a great choice for me."

Georgia has everything Tyler Atkinson needs
The one thing that stands out the most to Atkinson based on the above post from him is the recent success Georgia has found at the linebacker position. Kirby Smart has been the head coach in Athens for nine seasons, and three of those years ended in a Georgia linebacker winning the Butkus Award which goes to the nation's best linebacker. This includes Jalon Walker who just won the award during the 2024 season.
On top of this recent success, five-star quarterback Jared Curtis has been in Atkinson's ear trying to convince him to come to Georgia alongside him. So the opportunity to play with the No. 1 quarterback in the country could be too much for Atkinson to pass up.
Atkinson will announce his final decision between Georgia, Clemson, Oregon and Texas. The Longhorns appear to be Georgia's biggest competition as of now, but UGA is still considered the team to beat. So by the end of this month Georgia could become the home to the No. 1 linebacker in the country.
