Georgia football has held steady with the No. 2 recruiting class in the country for months now. The hope has always been that UGA would overtake USC for the top spot at some point, but there is nothing wrong with finishing with the No. 2 class if that’s what it comes down to.
Unfortunately it is seeming more and more likely that Georgia will finish lower than No. 2 because they just lost their commitment from three-star EDGE Corey Howard to Alabama. Sunday night.

Alabama stole a Georgia commit
Howard has been one of the most underrated commits in Georgia’s 2026 recruiting class. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 695 overall player in the country, but that low ranking didn’t stop Georgia from aggressively pursuing him.
Georgia was one of just two schools to officially host Howard this summer. The Bulldogs were the second school to host him after Florida, and just 11 days after his trip to Athens he committed to Georgia.
Other schools attempted to flip Howard ever since, but they were not able to make any progress with him. But then Alabama came knocking and were able to get him to visit this weekend for their win against Tennessee, and the rest was history.
Howard is the second recruit to decommit from Georgia in the last week as linebacker Shadarius Toodle flipped to Auburn a few days ago. Howard at least is flipping to a program on Georgia’s level, but that doesn’t make this loss sting any less.
The Bulldogs still have the No. 2 recruiting class in the country, but that could change as this recruiting cycle comes to an end in December. Only time will tell if Georgia is able to remain at No. 2 or not, but for now UGA has to deal with yet another loss to Alabama.
