Alabama, Ole Miss receive special treatment compared to Georgia
Georgia football is slowly working their way back up the AP Poll rankings after suffering their loss to Ole Miss a few weeks ago. As of the Sunday, Georgia is back up to No. 6 after a wild day of college football on Saturday.
And while what happened in the past after UGA lost to Ole Miss is irrelevant now, it's impossible to not notice the special treatment Alabama and Ole Miss received from the AP voters after their losses this weekend compared to Georgia.
Alabama and Ole Miss don't drop as much as they should have
This past weekend was not kind to Alabama and Ole Miss. Both teams were in the College Football Playoff picture, that is until the Tide lost to a below .500 team in Oklahoma and Ole Miss lost to a 5-5 Florida team. You would think losses like these would significantly drop both teams in the AP Poll, especially considering they were both teams third loss of the season, that however did not happen.
After getting blow out by Oklahoma, Alabama only dropped six spots to No. 13. The Rebel's loss (which was at least close) caused Ole Miss to only drop six spots as well to No. 15. That may not seem like a big deal, but when you compare it to what happened to Georgia two weeks it most definitely is.
After Georgia lost on the road to a ranked Ole Miss team two weeks ago, the Bulldogs fell nine spots from No. 2 to No. 11. How is it possible to drop more spots when UGA lost to a much better team than Alabama or Ole Miss did this weekend? This was also only the second loss for Georgia as well while Alabama and Ole Miss just suffered their third, so that's even more reason to drop these teams more than Gerogia did.
At the end of the day this doesn't really matter. All that matters is that Georgia's CFP hopes are still alive and they get to play for an SEC Championship while these two teams need some help to make it to the CFP. But it's impossible to not notice this special treatment and wonder what Kirby Smart and Georgia did wrong to deserve this.
