Georgia has finally exercised their Alabama demons. After being beat by the Crimson Tide time and time again they finally got the upper hand in the SEC Championship game this past season.
Alabama was the last team for Kirby Smart to conquer, and now that he has Georgia's goal shifts to staying on top of the Tide. Their first opportunity to do that will come later this season when Georgia travels to Alabama for a regular season showdown.
It goes without saying how difficult winning this game will be, but new intel about Alabama's projected starting quarterback Austin Mack increases Georgia's chances of beating the Tide for the second time in a row.
"Alabama football insiders who viewed the scrimmage action were more direct, saying Austin Mack misses repeated easy throws," Ronald Evans said via bamahammer.com.
Georgia's chances at beating Alabama just improved
Alabama just hasn't been the same since Nick Saban retired. That however hasn't hurt their confidence in themselves as they still think they are one of the best teams in the country.
While that still may be the case, they are not better than Georgia. But in order to keep it that way Georgia needs to beat them again this season.
Winning at Alabama is no easy task, but the Crimson Tide will have to start a new quarterback in Mack since Ty Simpson is heading to the NFL. Mack has been in their program for a few years now, but the above report indicates that he is really struggling this spring.
If he is having issues making simple throws in practice then he doesn't stand a chance against Georgia's defense. And with Gunner Stockton coming back for his second year as a starter this game definitely leans in UGA's favor.
A lot can change from now until the two sides battle in October, but as it stands now it is looking like Georgia will have a great chance to beat the Tide for a second year in a row.
