It is no secret at this point how Kirby Smart views NIL.He absolutely wants players to make some money at Georgia, but he does not want to overspend for someone who hasn’t earned it yet. That is especially the case with high school recruits who haven’t even stepped foot on a college campus yet.

The top recruits in the country sometimes will demand a massive NIL deal, and typically when that happens Georgia isn’t able to compete. But there are a few examples of players who don’t care about NIL money, and those are the players Smart wants at Georgia.

Former No. 1 overall recruit Arch Manning could’ve made as much money as he wanted. He was someone Smart wanted at Georgia, but he ultimately sided with Texas. And while that was tough for Georgia at the time, Smart will have a lot of respect for Manning because he reportedly did not take any NIL money during his freshman season.

Arch Manning’s NIL stance matches what Kirby Smart wants at Georgia

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian confirmed that Manning did not take any money from the Longhorns during his freshman season. To be fair, he is a Manning so money likely isn’t a problem in his life, but he still chose to play for free when he could’ve made millions and that is very honorable.

So even though Manning didn’t come to Georgia this is something Smart likely respects. This is even true even after Manning took a shot at Georgia by giving them zero credit after the last time they beat him.

At the end of the day the only thing Smart will care about is beating him if they play again, but Manning undoubtedly has earned Smart’s respect for life. Now Smart needs to just go out and find someone just as good as Manning who doesn’t want any money, because that sounds like a really good deal any school would be lucky to find.
