Georgia football QB Carson Beck's season might be over, but he will still continue making headlines all offseason. Beck recently announced that he will be entering the 2025 NFL Draft instead of returning to Georgia for one more season, which some thought might not be the best decision for him. However, at the end of the day all that matters is what Beck wants to do, and if he wants to turn pro then Georgia fans should support that decision.
However, the opinions of NFL scouts and executives also matter as they are the ones who will decide his fate in the NFL. And according to NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay, this was the wrong decision according to these parties.
“Carson Beck made a bad decision to leave early. I texted a bunch of guys in the league, GMs, former GMs, scouts. One Scout wrote back to me, one word answer — ‘foolish.’”
Did Carson Beck make the right decision?
Some people might not agree with speculating if this was the right decision for Beck or not, but it's hard not to after this headline.
Beck entered the 2024 season as one of the top QBs in the country, but his play didn't always live up to that hype. His recent injury is another reason that NFL executives may be concerned about drafting Beck as well. So Beck could have used next season to show what type of player he really is and that this injury won't impact him long term.
On the flip side, Beck will still be able to prove these things before the NFL Draft later this summer. Beck reportedly will be able to begin throwing again this spring, meaning that he will have ample time to go through workouts and show that he is fully healthy. It's also worth mentioning that ESPN Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. has Beck as the No. 4 QB in this year's NFL Draft as well.
So while some may think that Beck made the wrong choice, others clearly think he is good enough to make it in the NFL. It will be interesting to watch how Beck does when he gets back from injury and who will draft him, because whoever decides to select Beck likely will not be disappointed.
