Georgia fans haven't been shy when it coes to voiceing their displeasure with Mike Bobo. After every loss he seemingly is the person who receives the most blame, and most of the time it isn't warranted.
That's at least how outsiders view it because On3's J.D. PicKell came to Bobo's defense and made the case for why he is one of the best assistant coaches in the country.
Put some respect on Mike Bobo's name

The last 2 years:

- 2 offenses averaging over 30 a game

On3 defends Mike Bobo from the pushback he receives from Georgia football fans
PicKell pointed out some very compelling stats that prove Bobo has been a great coach at Georgia. He not only has helped lead Georgia to two SEC Championships in his three seasons as offensive coordinator, but he has done so while averaging over 30 points per game in those two seasons. On top of that, he has found this success with two different quarterbacks which isn't an easy thing to do.
The largest gripe fans have with Bobo is that his offense doesn't perform as well in the biggest games. Data shows that this is correct because in his five SEC Championship and playoff games as Georgia's offensive coordinator they are averaging 19 less points per game than previous coordinator Todd Monken averaged. That is a significant dropoff that may explain why Georgia has come up short in the playoff the last two years.
Georgia expects to win National Championships, so falling short three years in a row now isn't good enough. But Bobo has shown that he is a very good coach, so he deserves the chance to lead Georgia to more playoff success in the coming years.
At some point though Kirby Smart will have to move on if he continues to stumble in the playoff. He can have all the success in the regular season and SEC title game that he wants, but if he can't get it done in the playoff then Smart will have no choice but to hire someone else.
But Bobo has earned the right to have a few more years to figure it out, and there's a great chance that this season is the year that he does.
