Georgia football has finally found out who their College Football Playoff opponent will be during their upcoming game in the Sugar Bowl. On Friday night, 7-seed Notre Dame took down 10-seed Indiana to punch their ticket to New Orleans to face Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.
Games like Notre Dame vs. Georgia is what makes college football so special. Two of the best programs of all time going to battle to see who comes out on top to advance to the CFP semifinals. It really doesn't get any better than that.
This matchup also more than likely will be extremely close, with either team being able to come out on top. While that statement seems obvious, that sentiment is not shared with many throughout the country who feel Georgia does not stand a chance against the Irish with Gunner Stockton under center in place of an injured Carson Beck.
"I'm gonna say the quiet part out loud... Notre Dame is gonna beat Georgia."
When will the college football world learn?
Is the college football world ever going to learn? Everyone thought Georgia would lose on the road to Texas earlier this season. So what did the Bulldogs do? Win in convincing fashion 30-15.
Then everyone thought there was no way Georgia would be able to beat the Longhorns again in the SEC Championship game, especially after Beck got hurt in the first half. But Georgia once again proved everyone wrong and won again.
Now those same people are saying Georgia doesn't stand a chance against Notre Dame, but if these people just opened their eyes for one second they would see that maybe they should stop doubting Georgia.
No Georgia fan is suggesting that Notre Dame can't win this game, they are a very talented team that are more than capable of knocking off Georgia, but to act like UGA stands no chance is ridiculous. But those statements are exactly what Smart and Georgia want to hear, because they would love nothing more than to prove everyone wrong once again, just like they have all season.
