Donte Wright is one of Georgia’s prized commits in the 2027 recruiting class. He is a five-star corner and the second highest ranked commit in their class who has recently took on a leadership role by helping recruit more players to Georgia.
Unfortunately this is a recruitment that has slowly been slipping away from Georgia for a few months, and now he’s on the verge of decommitting from the Bulldogs.

5-star Georgia commit Donte Wright predicted to flip to Oregon
Wright was one of the first recruits to commit to Georgia’s 2027 recruiting class. He made that decision at the end of June and has stayed true to his word ever since. Unfortunately the last few months he began showing interest in a few other schools, and one of those schools was Oregon.
Fast forward to today and Wright has been predicted to flip his commitment to the Ducks. And to make this news even worse it is a former Georgia assistant in Dan Lanning who is making progress with a Georgia commit.
The fact that Wright has been predicted to decommit from Georgia really isn’t all that surprising. Even though he has been helping recruit more players to Georgia the writing has still been on the wall that this was possible. Many believed it would be Miami that would flip him from Georgia since they just locked in an official visit, but it’s now clear that Oregon is the team to beat.
At this point it’s likely just a matter of time until Wright officially flips from Gerogia to Oregon. Sure Kirby Smart still has a chance to keep him in Georgia’s class, but no one should expect that at this point.
Georgia now should start preparing for what their next move is when the inevitable eventually occurs. It’s going to be hard to find someone as good as Wright to replace him, but there are still plenty of talented players at or near his level. But it’s clear that they’re going to need to move fast because this potential loss will be extremely difficult to overcome.
