David Pollack discusses the one major problem holding Georgia back

Georgia football has a lot of things they need to improve on during their final bye week of the regular season. Even after their win over No. 1 Texas last weekend, it is clear that there are areas where they can easily get a lot better.

One of those areas is the Bulldogs' wide receivers on offense. Nobody should sit here and put all of the blame for Georgia's offensive struggles on the receivers because QB Carson Beck hasn't been good enough either, but the receiving room has had a glaring issue with drops recently.

Former ESPN analyst David Pollack had a lot to say about this topic as well during an appearance on 'The McShay Show.'

“The receiver problem is real,” Pollack said via athlonsports.com. “They drop balls at the third highest-rate. They don’t make contested catches. Delp (Oscar) is M.I.A. this season. He has less than eight catches on the season. If you want to boil down to what you see and watch on tape, Carson Beck don’t trust Delp. He doesn’t. You can tell there’s definitely not a level of trust. (Brock) Bowers, that ball was getting force-fed. (Ladd) McConkey, that ball was getting force-fed."

That stat shared by Pollack is staggering. Nobody expects receivers to catch 100 percent of the balls thrown their way, but the third highest drop rate is problematic.

At the end of the day, Georgia just needs to work through these drops and hope that it becomes a thing of the past as soon as possible. But there is one lasting impact that this can have that can make it tough on the offense moving forward.

Trust.

Lack of Trust

Pollack brings up a good example of how Beck could 100 percent rely on a guy like Brock Bowers last season, who is about as sure-handed as any receiver or tight end has ever been to come through Georgia. And while we all know there isn't anyone on offense as talented as Bowers, the expectation at Georgia is that they all will catch the football when Beck puts it on the money.

Because that hasn't been the case, that hurts Beck's trust in this group which can cause him to get frustrated and force the issue on offense. That could very well be the reason for Beck's turnover problems the last couple games.

It's going to be a long road to get this situation figured out between Beck and his receivers. The hope is that they will find a solution during their bye week this week, but if they are unable to fix this then it will be tough for Kirby Smart and Georgia to win a championship this season.
