Quarterback is the most important position for Georgia to recruit well. Without a good QB they will never stand much of a chance to win at the highest level.

Thankfully Georgia has always had really good quarterback play throughout Kirby Smart's tenure, but it is important for them to continue recruiting the position at a high level. Unfortunately Georgia's No. 1 target in the 2027 recruiting class is trending to the last school UGA wants to see.

Alabama is putting distance between them and Georgia with No. 1 QB

Elijah Haven is a five-star quarterback who named Georgia one of his top schools. Not only is he a five-star but he is the top ranked QB in the 2027 class and the No. 2 overall player as well. This makes Haven one of the most important recruits Georgia is targeting, but things are not going their way.

247Sports recently logged a prediction in Alabama's favor to win Haven's recruitment, and they are probably the last team Georgia wants to see add a talent like this. Alabama isn't a traditional rival for Georgia, but they are the team they compete against the most at the top of the SEC. So seeing them add an elite player like Haven will absolutely hurt Georgia in the long run.

The good news for Georgia is that the No. 1 QB in the 2028 recruiting class, Jayden Wade, is committed to UGA. And not only is he committed to Georgia, but he appears to be as locked in as any recruit can possibly be.

So while losing Haven's recruitment is still difficult to see, it is nothing to panic over. As long as Georgia adds a solid quarterback to their 2027 class and keep Wade in their 2028 class then everything will be just fine in Athens.
