Every year there are a few recruits who feel extra important for Georgia to land. This year Brock Williams is one of those players.

Williams is a four-star tight end who according to On3 is the No. 3 tight end in the country. He previously announced his three finalists which included Georgia, Texas and Ohio State and at one point it felt like this recruitment was trending towards UGA. On Friday though Williams may have prematurely broke Georgia’s heart as he was predicted by On3 to commit to Texas.

4-star Brock Williams may want nothing to do with Georgia

Georgia has been lights out over the past few years recruiting tight ends. Every year they seem to get at least two of the top tight ends in the country to commit to Georgia, and that includes last year when Kirby Smart signed three of the top 10 tight ends in the nation. The hope was the Williams would want to join that group of elite tight ends, but unfortunately it doesn’t look like things are trending that way.

Williams hasn’t announced a commitment date yet, so technically anything is still possible. So as long as Smart still has a chance Georgia can never be counted out, but it might take a miracle to flip this recruitment in UGA’s favor.

There are a lot of obvious reasons why losing this recruitment would be tough, but the biggest is because he is the perfect recruit for Smart when it comes to NIL. Williams previously said that NIL would not play a factor in his decision as he is more worried about collecting checks in the NFL. That fact alone makes it a bit strange that he would choose Texas who is known for spending a lot, but that is the reality of the situation.

Anything is possible until Williams actually announces a commitment, but for now he is someone Georgia shouldn’t count on adding to their recruiting class.
