ESPN is buying even more Georgia stock after spring ball

ESPN is more confident in Georgia than ever before.

There are a lot of people who are doubting Georgia entering this season. Some college football analysts aren’t confident that Gunner Stockton is good enough while others believe the Bulldogs schedule is too difficult for them this year.

ESPN however has never stopped believing in Georgia. Entering spring ball they ranked Georgia as the No. 4 team in the country, but with spring ball ending they now have moved UGA up one spot to No. 3 behind Ohio State and Oregon.

“The Bulldogs were the second-youngest team in the SEC in 2025, but coach Kirby Smart still managed to win the program’s second straight SEC title and reach the CFP again,” Mark Schlabach said via espn.com.“Georgia went back to its bread and butter under Smart -- running the ball and stopping the run. Quarterback Gunner Stockton is back after a solid first season as the starter, and persuading tailback Nate Frazier to stay was big. The defense should again be stingy, and Smart retooled the secondary with experienced transfers.”

ESPN pumps even more hype into Georgia

At this point it is hard to get excited about rankings. The season is still months away, so it’s impossible to know how good or bad any team is. But anyone would rather be viewed in a positive than negative light, so ESPN being this confident in Georgia is a good thing to see.

Kirby Smart however won’t care about this at all. Recently he said that he doesn’t pay attention to anything anyone outside of the program says about his team. This obviously includes negative remarks about Georgia, but it also includes positive statements like this one from ESPN as well.

So while it is awesome to see ESPN have so much confidence in Georgia, at the end of the day the only thing that matters right now is continuing to get better each and every day. And it’s abundantly clear that is the only thing Smart cares about.
