One of the biggest recruiting announcements for Georgia football this cycle is right around the corner. The Bulldogs’ 2025 recruiting class is currently No. 5 in the country, but at Georgia that is never good enough. We strive to have the No. 1 class in the country.

Thankfully it appears UGA could be trending that way as a super talented recruit could be set to commit to Georgia later this week.

Elijah Griffin is a five-star defensive lineman from Savannah, GA. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he is the No. 4 player in the country. He is also the top ranked defensive lineman as well as the top player from Georgia.

Griffin has shared that he will be announcing his commitment on Oct. 18 and will be deciding between Georgia, Miami (FL), and USC.

These are the recruitments that feel like a must win for Kirby Smart and his staff. Winning a recruiting battle for any five-star they prioritize is important, but that importance increases exponentially when the recruit is from Georgia. The last thing we want is other programs coming into our state and taking the top players.

And by the looks of it, it appears that Georgia is in a good spot to win this recruitment.

The Bulldogs have been the leader in Griffin’s recruitment for quite some time now. Georgia has four crystal ball predictions in their favor in this recruitment dating all the way back to January. So the fact that these predictions haven’t changed in nearly nine months is very telling.

Griffin was also in Athens this past weekend when Georgia beat Mississippi State 41-31. So a commitment this soon after a visit is always a good sign as well.

It would be very surprising to me if Georgia doesn’t end up winning this recruitment. Crazier things have happened in recruiting, but this just feels like it’s been UGA the entire way and I don’t see that changing in the next couple days.

Thankfully we won’t have to wait much longer, and hopefully in just a few short days we will be celebrating a massive commitment.
