Georgia football not only is the top dog in the SEC on the field, but they also are on the recruiting trail as well. But a new team is emerging who is attempting to steal that title from the Bulldogs on the trail, and it unfortunately is the Florida Gators.
Florida is nowhere near Georgia in the 2026 team recruiting rankings, but the Gators are making moves in the 2027 recruiting class as they were just predicted to earn a commitment from the No. 1 player in the country.

Florida predicted to land the No. 1 QB in the country over Georgia
According to Rivals Sam Spiegelman and Steve Wiltfong, Florida is the team that is predicted to win the recruitment for five-star quarterback Elijah Haven.
According to 247Sports, Haven is the No. 1 quarterback in the entire country. He also is the top ranked player in the 2027 recruiting class as well.
Georgia was a team that was extremely motivated to win Haven's recruitment as they did offer him a scholarship two months ago. That offer clearly didn't mean much to Haven though because he never really gave Georgia the time of day in his recruitment and is already trending to one of their biggest rivals.
The Bulldogs however will lose recruitments all the time, so there isn't any one loss on the recruiting trail that Georgia fans should overreact about. But Florida winning this recruitment would mean they are stealing Georgia's thunder when it comes to holding a commitment from the No. 1 quarterback in the country.
Sure Georgia's top ranked QB is Jared Curtis who is in the 2026 recruiting class, so Haven committing to Florida doesn't take that title away from UGA, but overall it is never a good thing seeing Florida find this much success on the recruiting trail.
Haven's recruitment still has a lot of time left in it, so anything is still possible. But it is looking more and more like Haven is going to be a Gator, which is a tough thing for Georgia fans to see.
