The college football season is set to begin in just over a month. That means there are a lot of heated quarterback competitions unfolding across the country, but that is something Georgia doesn't have to worry about with Gunner Stockton returning as their starter.
They however will be watching a few SEC competitions very closely, especially if those teams are on their schedule this season. But it is Vanderbilt's QB competition that they likely care the most about after former five-star Georgia commit Jared Curtis turned his back on Kirby Smart and flipped to the Commodores.
One of the main reasons he decided to flip to Vanderbilt was so he could play as a true freshman. He knew he would never start over Stockton and Diego Pavia was leaving Vanderbilt, so he had an opportunity to come in and be a day one starter. On3 however just projected Curtis to lose the starting job which would have Georgia fans rolling on the floor laughing.

Georgia may just get the last laugh in the Jared Curtis recruitment saga
Curtis was committed to Georgia not once, but twice. Yes, that's right, he was committed to Georgia, decommitted then committed to Georgia a second time before eventually flipping to Vanderbilt just days before signing day.
Curtis made this decision for a lot of reasons, but as mentioned one of the biggest reasons was so he could potentially be the starter as a freshman. On3 however doesn't think he's going to win that job and instead will be riding the bench.
Georgia fans may have been hoping he'd win the starting job because Vanderbilt plays in Athens this season. The opportunity to beat him and get some revenge is too good to pass up, but him failing to even win the starting job is almost an even better outcome.
It remains to be seen what will end up happening, but there is a very real chance he ends up seriously regretting his decision to flip to Vanderbilt.
Jared Curtis might learn to regret turning his back on Georgia
If Curtis wins Vanderbilt's starting job this year then his decision to ditch Georgia would ultimately make a lot of sense. He was never going to play at Georgia this year, so if he found a Power Four program where he could play then good for him.
But if he fails to win their job then he ultimately made a terrible decision to go to Vanderbilt.
Instead of going to Vanderbilt he could've stuck with Georgia instead, sat for a year, and then competed for the starting job in Athens ahead of the 2027 season. And he would've had a great chance to win the starting job next year too.
Playing quarterback at a program like Georgia will always trump Vanderbilt, so if Curtis doesn't take advantage of the opportunity to start as a freshman at Vandy then what is the point of him turning Georgia down then?
This could be a decision he ends up regretting for the rest of his life.
