Foormer Georgia football head coach Mark Richt had some jokes for Carson Beck during ACC Media Days on Tuesday. Richt and Beck have something in common because both made the move from Georgia to Miami (FL) during their careers. Sure there is a pretty big difference because Georgia fans have a lot of respect for Richt still, but the two do share this similarity.
Knowing the two have this in common, Richt took the opportunity to crack at joke with Beck during ACC Media Days on Tuesday.
"You were at Georgia, went to Miami," Richt shared via si.com. "I was at Georgia, went to Miami. The only difference is you got paid more than I did."
Mark Richt jokes with Carson Beck about his move to Miami
The similarities between Richt and Beck go beyond them just making the move from Georgia to Miami. Both Richt and Beck found a lot of success during their time at Georgia as well, with Richt and Beck both winning two SEC Championships and Beck being a part of two National Championship teams as well.
The difference between these two however is how much money they were paid to make the move to Miami. When Richt first left Georgia in 2015, the Hurricanes hired him and were paying him $4 million annually. Beck on the other hand reportedly could make upwards of $6 million this season. Richt likely isn't complaining about the amount of money he made during his coaching career, but it's quite funny to see Beck making significantly more than him.
Beck unfortunately is not a fan favorite whereas Richt has a special place in the hearts of Georgia fans. Maybe that will change for Beck as time goes on, but if he keeps taking shots at Georgia then he likely will never be beloved by the fanbase again.
