Georgia football has made a lot of waves in the transfer portal so far this offseason. Kirby Smart and his staff got off to a slow start, but ever since their season came to an end the Bulldogs have earned commitments from multiple elite players in the portal.
However, quarterback is one position where Georgia has recruited a few players but have been unable to earn a commitment. It has been a little bit of time since Georgia has been linked with a QB in the portal, but now that Carson Beck has transferred to Miami there is likely a need for Georgia to add another quarterback to the roster to add some depth.
While there are many options available to Smart and his staff, there is a new player who just entered the portal again that Georgia already attempted to recruit earlier this offseason.

Charlotte transfer QB Deshawn Purdie
Deshawn Purdie is a transfer quarterback who has spent one year in college at Charlotte. During this past season with Charlotte, he completed 100 of 200 passes for 1,802 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. These stats may not be the greatest, but they came in nine games played which does add some perspective. However, a 50 percent completion percentage isn't anything to write home about, but that clearly did not matter to Smart and his staff earlier this offseason.
Purdie entered the transfer portal right after this regular season ended and Georgia was one of the few schools to reach out and target him. But he ultimately committed to Florida which has been the case for a few weeks. That commitment however did not stick as Graham Hall with 247Sports reported that he is once again officially in the transfer portal.
No word has been shared as to why this is the case or what led for him to change his mind. There also hasn't been any word from Georgia's end on if they are still interested in Purdie or not. Time will tell if UGA gets involved again or not, but if Smart was interested before then there is a good chance he still is now.
Purdie is likely not someone who would be able to win the starting job this fall, but he would add some much needed depth that Georgia's quarterback room needs. So if Purdie wants to come to Georgia knowing that, then so be it.
