Georgia at risk of seeing nation's No. 1 recruit break their heart again

One of the nation's top recruits may be trending toward a different school over Georgia again.

The No. 1 recruit in the 2027 recruiting class is DJ Jacobs who is from the state of Georgia. Typically that means Georgia has a great shot of winning a recruitment, but at the end of December Jacobs shocked UGA and committed to Ohio State.

Jacobs has remained loyal to Ohio State ever since, but other schools haven't given up hope. Kirby Smart certainly has continued to recruit him, but they unfortunately haven't found any success. The same can't be said for Miami who is making progress with Jacobs and has become a serious threat to flip him from Ohio State.

5-star DJ Jacobs refuses to give Georgia another look since committing to Ohio State

Jacobs is the top ranked player in the country according to 247Sports. Not only does that fact make losing his recruitment difficult for Georgia, but him being from the Peach State makes it even worse. But the one thing that makes this loss unbearable is that he is a legacy recruit.

Jacobs' father player at Georgia in the late 90s, but it's clear that he wants to forge his own path in college.

It looked like he was going to take his talents north to Ohio State, but he may be having second thoughts. Jacobs reportedly will visit Miami this weekend which is as good of a sign as any that the Hurricanes have a chance to flip him from the Buckeyes.

Georgia fans have been waiting for news like this in their favor since he committed to Ohio State. At this point though it looks like that is never going to come. But even if there is little hope for Georgia it's hard not to think that things could eventually change in their favor because of their proximity to home and family connection.

But instead of things flipping in their favor Georgia now has to watch yet another school find success with the one recruit they want the most.
