It’s always a great weekend whenever Georgia beats Florida in any sport, and that is exactly what happened multiple times this weekend. Also, one of Georgia’s top recruiting targets hinted at massive news as well, but he may have made an empty promise.

So let’s dive right in as Sunday, March 23 had a lot of big moments around Georgia worth discussing.

Baseball sweeps Florida

Georgia baseball headed south this weekend for a three game series against the Florida Gators. UGA had not won a series in Gainesville since 2006, but that changed this weekend.

The Bulldogs ended up sweeping the Gators, blowing Florida out in the final two matchups while winning the first meeting on Friday by one after a ninth inning home run took the lead late for Georgia. Sunday's game ended after seven innings after Georgia held a 15-4 lead, meaning UGA outscored the Gators 40-13 throughout the weekend.

The Bulldogs, who sit in a tie for first place in the SEC, host West Georgia on Tuesday before Auburn heads to Athens this weekend for a three game series.

What is 5-star QB Jared Curtis saying?

Georgia football and Oregon are both going all out for five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, who is the No. 1 QB in the country. Curtis just visited both schools last week, and Sunday night he posted a cryptic message on social media that said "News soon..."

This post also had a timer counting down to 1:00 am EST, but no news or announcement has been made as of 8:30 am EST Monday morning.

Who knows if any news is coming at all, but this is definitely something to monitor throughout Monday.

Kirby Smart compliments himself

Kirby Smart usually isn't one to hand out much praise, especially for himself, but he did just that in a recent interview.

Smart shared that he beleives this past season was the best coaching job he and his staff have had during his tenure. That may be a crazy thing to say because Georgia didn't win a National Championship, but he may be on to something after considering the decrease in depth and extremely difficult schedule the Bulldogs faced in 2024.
