No day goes by without a lot of big news occurring at Georgia. That was once again the case on Wednesday as multiple big events took place as well as a secretive photoshoot from one of Georgia’s head coaches.
So let’s dive right in and cover the most important topics that occurred at Georgia on Wednesday, March 12.
Men’s basketball falls in SEC Tournament opener
Georgia basketball began postseason play late Wednesday night against Oklahoma in the first round of the SEC Tournament. The Bulldogs entered the postseason on a four game win streak, which included a shocking upset win over Florida. But the good vibes came to a crashing halt as Georgia fell to the Sooners 81-75.
Georgia was led by Silas Demary Jr. and Asa Newell who scored 24 and 21 points, respectively. However, they did not get much help from the rest of the team as Oklahoma’s late rally proved to be too much for the Bulldogs.
Losing in the first round of this tournament will cast a little doubt on Georgia’s chances to make the NCAA Tournament. But there should be no fear in that as UGA’s resume was already strong enough to make it in before this loss. Selection Sunday is still a few days away, but Georgia should hear their name called for the first time since 2015.
Kirby Smart featured on College Football 26 cover
On Tuesday, Kirby Smart shared that he would not be attending Georgia’s annual Pro Day that took place on Wednesday. That news seemed surprising, but Smart failed to share why that was the case.
But the reason why became known Wednesday night as Smart was one of a few players, coaches and mascots to be featured on the leaked cover of EA Sports College Football 26 video game.

The fact that Smart was one of the few coaches selected shows how respected he is as a coach and how great of a program Georgia is. And to make it even better, Smart was put on the front row for everyone to see.
Standout Pro Day performances
Speaking of Georgia’s Pro Day, a few Bulldogs entered Wednesday needing to standout during the event. And arguably the three players with the most to prove had the best performances.
Both Dan Jackson and Chaz Chambliss were not invited to the NFL Combine a few weeks ago, but they proved the NFL wrong after impressive showings on Wednesday. Then there was Malaki Starks, who was a labeled a “loser” at the Combine who did so well on Wednesday that he was now named the “safest” pick in the upcoming draft.
Even Gunner Stockton showed out as he was the QB selected to throw for Georgia’s players during Pro Day.
Overall this was a very successful day for Georgia, with many of their players improving their draft stock in front of representatives from all 32 NFL teams.
