April 15 turned into a massive news day for the Georgia football program. A lot of headlines were made surrounding Georgia's coaching staff, including the hiring of a new coach on the defensive side of the ball. On top of that, two Bulldogs heading to the NFL Draft were invited to attend the draft next week as well.
But before getting into all of that, let's first begin with a positive injury update from Georgia's former QB.
Carson Beck injury update
Similar to Georgia, Miami (FL) has also reached the end of their spring practice schedule. Most Georgia fans probably didn't follow the Hurricanes too closely this spring, but most were likely following the news to see what transpired with former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck.
As everyone knows, Beck suffered an injury during the first half of the SEC Championship game, and this injury kept Beck sidelines for the entire spring in Miami. However, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal shared that Beck is healthy and can begin throwing a football again.
While it is unfortunate for Beck that he was never able to pariticpate on the field during the spring, it is good to see that his recovery has gone well. And hopefully this injury is behind him, because Georgia fans would love nothing more than to see the Bulldogs' starting QB perform better than Beck this season while he is at full health.
New football coach hired
Georgia has added a fair amount of new coaches to their staff this offseason already, but they are not done as Kirby Smart hired defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh to their staff Tuesday night.
Brumbaugh comes to Georgia from Coastal Carolina where he has spent the last two seasons, but he has also spent a lot of time in the SEC as well. This includes stops at Tennessee, Kentucky and his alma mater Auburn, where he was a standout defensive lineman that made three All-SEC teams during his career.
It's unclear if this will be the last coaching addition made this offseason or not, but there are a lot of reasons to be extremely excited about the addition of Brumbaugh.
Mike Bobo ridicule
Mike Bobo is no stranger to receiving ridicule, especially after this past season when Georgia fans were not happy with his performance as the Bulldogs' Offensive Coordinator. But it hasn't just been UGA fans upset with Bobo, some members of the media have been as well.
And one person who is in the news far too often about Georgia is ESPN's Paul Finebaum, who recently said Bobo is an "inferior offensive coordinator." Some fans might agree with that, but it might be time for Finebaum to quiet down as Bobo has found a lot of success at Georgia even if he has struggled at times as well.
NFL Draft invitees
The NFL Draft is set to begin next week on Thursday, April 24. To no one's surprise, Georgia will likely be one of the teams with the most draft picks once again this year. On top of that, UGA is projected to have a few selections in the first round as well.
As everyone knows, many of the player who are selected in the first round of the draft will attend the event so they can walk on stage when their name is called. Those players who will be in attendance this year were just announced, and Georgia will have two players present including safety Malaki Starks and defensive lineman Mykel Williams.
So make sure to start watching the draft early next week as two Bulldogs will have a very special moment as they walk across the stage.
