April 5 marked a big day in Georgia athletics, especially for the football team as they hosted their second scrimmage of the spring. However, the football team also received some very bad news on the recruiting trail as well.

There also was an interesting injury update for a former Bulldog as well, so let's dive right in and discuss the three big events from Saturday.

Georgia football loses key commitment

Georgia football has been making a lot of big moves on the recruiting trail in recent weeks, but Saturday they received some terrible news as four-star corner Jontavius Wyman decommitted from Georgia. And to make matters worse, he chose to commit to Miami (FL).

The Bulldogs now only have five commits in their 2026 class which is now ranked No. 26 in the country. This clearly is not good enough, so hopefully Kirby Smart and his staff will be able to improve on that in a hurry.

Football scrimmage reactions

Georgia hosted their second scrimmage on Saturday, and there were a lot of big takeaways from the day. Gunner Stockton was one of the top performers and showed why many think he will be the starting quarterback this fall.

The Bulldogs wide receivers also performed very well and true freshman Elijah Griffin was very impressive as well. Georgia still has a lot of work to do before the season begins in August, but Georgia's second scrimmage was much better than the first which is a great sign.

Carson Beck injury update

Carson Beck may have moved on to Miami (FL) for his final season of college football, but that doesn't mean Georgia fans have stopped caring about him. And one of the biggest stories following Beck this offseason is his recovery from his injury he suffered in the SEC Championship game.

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal gave an update to the media recently about Beck's health, and according to him Beck is "ahead of schedule." This is good news for Beck and Miami because he has not been able to practice yet this offseason, so this means he could be out there with the Hurricanes soon getting ready for the season ahead.
