Tennessee is funny for thinking this will matter.

Georgia football received some good news on Wednesday as one of their commits was given their fifth star out of nowhere. On top of that, Tennessee football and their fans provided some humor for Georgia fans as well after a “special” announcement.

But the one thing that dominated the conversation surrounding Georgia was the fallout after missing on the No. 1 recruit in the country.

Jackson Cantwell discourse at an all time high

Five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell unfortunately committed to Miami (FL) over Georgia on Tuesday. Countless reasons have been provided as to why that was the case, but the consensus amount Georgia and college football fans in general is that a large NIL deal from the Hurricanes swayed his decision.

While this fact did upset a fair amount of people, it really is hard to fault anyone for choosing a school based on money. The NCAA is allowing this to be the driving factor for many recruits, and most fans would take a new job for a significant increase in their pay as well.

No matter what the reason truly was, Cantwel will not be part of Georgia’s 2026 recruiting class. That however doesn’t mean UGA is in trouble, because there’s a great chance Georgia will still finish with one of the top classes in the country.

Jared Curtis earns 5th star

Georgia quarterback commit Jared Curtis has been a Bulldog for about a week and a half now, but another major development has occurred in his recruitment out of nowhere. Many fans might have thought he was a five-star recruit already, and that is true because the 247Sports and On3 composite rankings already gave him that honor. But 247Sports individual ranking only had Curtis as a four-star.

That however changed when 247Sports updated their ranking on Wednesday which gave Curtis his fifth star. Funny enough, Curtis finished one spot higher than Cantwell in this update as he moved up three spots to No. 9 while Cantwell fell seven spots to No. 10.

Tennessee will checker their stadium when Georgia comes to town

The regular season is still over three months away, but that won’t stop fans from anticipating the beginning of the season. It also won’t stop schools from planning their upcoming home games this fall either.

One of Georgia’s biggest games of the season is week three when they will travel to Tennessee to take on the Volunteers. The college football world will have their eyes on this game, and Tennessee is trying to use that to their advantage as they announced they’ll be checkering Neyland for this game.

While this may be intimidating for some teams, it shouldn’t bother Georgia one bit. In fact, nothing the Vols do should scare Georgia because the Bulldogs have not only beaten Tennessee eight straight times, but all eight wins haven’t been particularly close.
