Georgia football received massive news again on Thursday as they earned a five-star commitment in the 2026 class. On top of that, UGA indirectly received some news that Auburn’s pursuit of one of their top recruits was unsuccessful.
But let’s first begin with one of Georgia’s current commits who has an extremely important job this weekend.
Jared Curtis weekend mission
Five-star Georgia quarterback commit Jared Curtis will take his official visit to Athens this weekend. Curtis’s commitment is as locked in as it possibly can be, so Georgia’s coaching staff won’t have to recruit him like their other visitors. But the fact that Curtis is already committed does give him one unique job this weekend.
Curtis’s job this weekend will be to help Georgia’s staff recruit these recruits also visiting Georgia with him. Sure Kirby Smart and his staff will be able to give the best recruiting pitch, but having the No. 1 QB in a recruits ear won’t hurt either.
So hopefully Curtis is able to be successful in this role this weekend, because Georgia has a handful of elite visitors flocking to campus alongside him that UGA could really use in their recruiting class.
Georgia lands 5-star kicker
Georgia earned a commitment from the No. 1 punter on Wednesday in Wade Register. That obviously is massive news for the future of Georgia’s special teams, but things got even better on Thursday when Georgia landed a commitment from the No. 1 kicker in Harran Zureikat.

Special teams players never get enough credit on a football team, but these two commitments deserve to be celebrated just like the rest.
Now every Georgia fan won’t have to worry about special teams, because this unit will be in good hands for the years to come.
Georgia leads Auburn for coveted 5-star TE
Georgia is in heavy pursuit of five-star tight end Kaiden Prothro. The Bulldogs do appear to be the leader for Prothro, but there are a few other teams after him as well.
One of those teams is Auburn, who Prothro just visited last week. A new quote from Prothro about this visit came out on Thursday, and it sheds a lot of light on where Auburn and Georgia stand with him right now.
"I'd say it's pretty close right now."
This statement indicates that Georgia and Auburn are close to each other in his recruitment right now. However, it indirectly says that Georgia is still above Auburn, which obviously is great news.
Prothro does have two more official visits coming up these next two weeks, but for now it does appear that Georgia is still the team to beat.
