After earning a commitment two days in a row, Georgia football unfortunately was unable to make it three days in a row on Wednesday. That however doesn’t mean there was a shortage of news surrounding the program on Wednesday by any means.

Wednesday’s news however was not as positive as most UGA fans would hope for.

Tyler Atkinson continues ignoring Georgia

Most Georgia fans know by now that linebacker Tyler Atkinson is arguably the most important target for UGA this cycle now. And that’s for good reason because he is the No. 1 linebacker in the country and the top ranked player from Georgia, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Kirby Smart and his staff have aggressively pursued Atkinson for some time now, but they are yet to schedule an official visit with him. This may not be that big of a deal at first glance because Atkinson has visited Georgia countless times already in his recruitment, but it’s still important to get that official visit on the books. This is especially important after Atkinson just announced that he’ll be officially visiting Oregon this weekend.

This will also be his second official visit this summer as he just wrapped up a visit to Clemson this past weekend as well.

Who knows if this means he no longer is as high on Georgia now or not, but it does feel like he’s slipping through Georgia’s fingertips.

Jared Curtis falls in Rivals rankings

According to the On3 industry rankings and 247Sports composite rankings, Georgia quarterback commit Jared Curtis is the No. 1 QB in the country. That however is not the case with Rivals.

Rivals released an update to their rankings earlier this week, and Curtis fell and is now the No. 4 QB in the 2026 class. To be fair, this is still a very good ranking because he’s also the No. 10 overall player in the country in these rankings, but it is still unfortunate to see him drop.

Georgia lost Mark Bowman to USC becuase of NIL

Last week Georgia lost the recruitment for the No. 1 tight end in the country Mark Bowman. Bowman ended up committing to USC seemingly out of nowhere, which was a big surprise considering most thought UGA was leading his recruitment.

Based on how surprising this decision was, not many people knew what led Bowman to commit to USC, but an NIL report surfaced Wednesday that gives a great explanation.

According to this report, Bowman will make upwards of $8-10 million in three years at USC. He also will make more money this summer leading up to signing day than most athletes make during their four year college careers.

So while proximity to his home likely played a role as well, it appears a massive NIL deal caused Georgia to lose yet another key recruit.
