July 4 is always a day full of celebrations, but Georgia football gave their fans plenty of more reasons to keep the party going on Friday. Not only did word come out about how aggressively Georgia is pursuing a five-star running back, but the Bulldogs were also named as a top team for a five-star corner as well.
But the best news of the day came from Georgia earning their first commitment of July.
Georgia lands first commit of July
The biggest news of the day on Friday for Georgia came in the form of a commitment. This commitment came from four-star tight end Brayden Fogle, who is the No. 8 tight end in the country.
This commitment cements Georgia as the No. 1 recruiting class in the SEC and No. 2 class in the country for the time being. And with a few big announcements coming soon, Georgia has a chance to steal that top spot from USC soon.
Kirby Smart sent his final message to 5-star RB
Five-star running back Derrek Cooper is one of Georgia’s top remaining targets. The Bulldogs are in a good position with Cooper right now, but Cooper recently shared the final message Kirby Smart left with him after his official visit this June.
”We want you bad. We’re going to do whatever it takes to get you.”
Cooper recently cancelled his scheduled commitment date of July 12, but recent reports have indicated he could end up committing even sooner. These reports also mentioned Georgia as the leader in this recruitment still as well. So as long as Smart and his staff continue to push this hard for Cooper, there’s a great chance he commits to Georgia’s class very soon.
Georgia is still in the hunt for 5-star CB
The last piece of big news that came out on Friday was a big update for five-star corner Duvay Williams. 247Sports recently predicted Williams to USC, but a Georgia insider confirmed that UGA is “still in the race.”
Williams is a member of the 2027 recruiting class, so there is plenty of time for Georgia to catch the Trojans in this recruitment. However, Williams is from California, so this will be no easy task.
