A lot of the news surrounding Georgia football on Wednesday involved their SEC rival Alabama. But there was some good news that UGA received on Wednesday as well with one of their top targets, so let’s begin with that news because the Bulldogs are now just one day away from landing their next commit.
Georgia predicted to land 4-star TE
Georgia's 2026 recruiting class has now exploded to 26 total commits after the month of June that saw them earn 16 commitments. The fact that UGA has 26 commits already means that the Bulldogs probably won't be adding that many more players to their class.
But Georgia fans can expect to land a few players throughout the next couple months, especially in July where it wouldn't be surprising to see them earn commitments from about five recruits. One of Georgia's top targets left on their board is four-star tight end Brayden Fogle who is scheduled to announce his commitment on July 4.
Fogle will be deciding between Georgia, LSU and Penn State on July 4, but it appears UGA is the current leader to win this recruitment as Fogle was officially predicted by multiple recruiting experts on Wednesday to commit to Georgia.
Alabama beats Georgia for another 5-star recruit
Georgia and Alabama are familiar foes on the recruiting trail who do battle for many of the top recruits in the country every year. This is the case once again in the 2026 recruiting cycle, and while Georgia currently has the better overall class, the Tide have beaten UGA for a few elite recruits recently.
The latest example is when five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan chose to commit to Alabama over Georgia, Florida and Colorado. This marks the second five-star recruit Georgia has lost to Alabama over the past week which is a trend every UGA fan will want to see end as soon as possible.
Rivals gives Kirby Smart an unwarranted shoutout
Speaking of Alabama, the Tide earned another recent commitment from three-star wide receiver Owen Cabell. Georgia did not target Cabell, but the Bulldogs and Kirby Smart were still mentioned when Cabell announced his commitment to Alabama a couple of days ago.
Rivals posted an announcement for this commitment to social media, and in that post Cabell was pictured wearing a "Kirby Smart Football Camp" shirt. This was not done intentionally by Rivals, but it was hilarious moment for Georgia fans as this post somewhat ruined the excitment for Alabama fans after earning this commitment.
