Georgia football got the news they’ve been waiting for on Friday. They were in a heated battle against Clemson in their pursuit of four-star defensive back Seth Williams, and Friday marked the day where he finally announced his commitment.
Thankfully Georgia got good news from Williams as he became their second defensive back commit in the 2027 recruiting class.
4-star Seth Williams commits to Georgia over Clemson
One month ago Clemson was actually predicted to win Williams' recruitment. That occurred back when his commitment date was still July 3, but then he delayed his commitment which allowed Georgia to make their move.
Now Williams is in Georgia's recruiting class which is a big deal for Kirby Smart.
Georgia now has two four-star defensive backs in their recruiting class. One month ago they had zero defensive back commits in general, so this is a massive step in the right direction for their recruiting class. Georgia's class is also ranked No. 9 in the country now which is a much better ranking compared to being outside of the top 30 like they were two months ago.
Georgia still has a lot of work to do, but for now they are in a much better spot and have all the momentum in the world.
5-star QB Jayden Wade reaffirms commitment to Georgia
Ever since five-star quarterback Jayden Wade committed to Georgia the Bulldogs have had to fend off multiple flip attempts. That is just how it works when you have a commitment from the top ranked QB and No. 2 overall player in the country, but holding onto his commitment has not been easy.
Wade however reaffirmed his commitment to Georgia on Friday. Georgia now once again knows exactly where they stand with Wade even though a handful of elite programs did their best to flip him throughout the past few months.
This update though won't stop any school from trying to flip him. They will continue to pursue Wade until he signs with Georgia next December, so Smart and his staff will have their hands full. But they can take a deep breath right now because he isn't interested in these other schools at this point in time.
New Jared Curtis NIL intel explains why he ditched Georgia
Speaking of five-star quarterback commits, Jared Curtis is a name that just keeps popping up. He was committed to Georgia for much of last year, but then he flipped to Vanderbilt just days before signing day.
It was assumed that he did so because of a large NIL offer from the Commodores, but very little information was ever revealed about that deal. That changed on Friday though when details emerged about his NIL deal being worth upwards of $10 million.
This came about because a reporter wrote that his deal is close to fellow five-star QB Bryce Underwood's deal at Michigan which is known to be worth between $10 and $12 million.
Georgia gave Curtis a competitive deal, but it wasn't close to this. So this is the biggest reason why Curtis flipped to Vanderbilt and coincidentally why Georgia shouldn't regret losing him.
