Saturday was a busy day at Georgia, with one of the biggest highlights being the baseball team taking down No. 1 Arkansas. But G-Day was also on Saturday and everyone knows how much UGA fans love Georgia football.

So while the baseball team deserves a lot of credit for their big win, it's only fair to talk about the three big things that happened surrounding the football program as their spring practice schedule has now come to an end.

New football commitment

Georgia has been trending in the right direction with many recruits for some time now, and the sense was that they could get a commitment any day. And that commitment happened on Saturday before G-Day even started when three-star safety Kealan Jones made his commitment to Georgia official.

This brings UGA's 2026 class to No. 23 in the country with six commits in total. So there is still plenty of work to be done, but the Bulldogs are moving in the right direction.

3 new injuries from G-Day

While a commitment will always be the biggest story on any given day, there’s another big takeaway from Georgia’s G-Day on Saturday. And that is UGA suffering three injuries.

These injuries were to wide receiver Noah Thomas who suffered an AC sprain while linebacker Quentavius Johnson and wide receiver Cole Speer both suffered ankle injuries. The good news is that Kirby Smart shared that none of these injuries are serious, so hopefully that is actually the case and Georgia can start getting some good luck on the injury front moving forward.

Kirby Smart updates QB competition

Now looking at the game itself, there is on storyline that everyone was following the closest. Gunner Stockton versus Ryan Puglisi in the battle for the starting quarterback job this fall.

Statistically, Stockton slightly outperformed Puglisi, but on paper they essentially had the same stats. So it is hard to know who had the better performance, and that sentiment was confirmed from Smart's answer when asked about his two QBs during his press conference.

"Both did some good things and both did some poor things, which, when you get in a game environment, they need that," Smart shared via 247sports.com. "They need a game environment, they need a pocket, they need live, they need to play football. And they continue to get better. They understand they have some weapons on the outside. We have to rely on those guys to be able to make some plays, and I think both of those guys understand the offense. Ryan's come a long way in what was really his first spring, and he made some nice throws."

It's clear that this compeition will continue throughout the rest of the offseason, so Georgia fans will have to continue waiting to find out who their next QB will be.
