Georgia football’s 2025 season begins in one week, but that didn’t stop the SEC from dropping the biggest news of the entire offseason. On top of that, one star Bulldog signed a fun new NIL deal while Georgia has shown they are all in on flipping a four-star recruit committed to a top program from the Sunshine State.
But let’s first begin with the news from the SEC, because this announcement Thursday night shook the entire college football world.
SEC announces move to 9 conference games
Thursday evening the SEC decided to bend the knee to the Big Ten and start playing nine conference games every season beginning in 2026. On top of this change, every SEC team will have three teams they play every season while rotating between the other 12 schools every other year. This will guarantee that This means Georgia will play everyone in the SEC at least every other year while playing each team at home every four years.
There are a lot of pros and cons to this decision from the SEC, but the biggest con by far is the increase in strength of schedule. The SEC already has more difficult schedules than everyone else, so there really wasn’t a need to make them more challenging. But considering the College Football Playoff is adding more emphasis on strength of schedule, maybe this will be a good thing.
Nate Frazier signs new NIL deal
Georgia players have a lot of opportunities to make NIL money once their careers take off, and that’s exactly what is happening to running back Nate Frazier.
Frazier recently appeared in a promotional video for Beats and was seen wearing Georgia headphones in their advertisement. He is one of nine college football players to sign an NIL deal with Beats, and this just goes to show that if players find success on the field at Georgia they will be rewarded financially.
Georgia looking to flip 4-star WR commit
Recruiting news has hit an all time low with the football season beginning in a week, but Georgia still has a few recruits they are after. One of those recruits is four-star wide receiver Brandon Bennett.
Bennett has been committed to Florida State for a few months now, but that isn’t stopping Georgia, Miami (FL) and Florida from attempting to flip him from the Seminoles. And considering UGA was the only other school to host Bennett on an official visit this summer, there is reason for Georgia fans to be hopeful UGA can pull this off.
