All Stetson Bennett needs is one chance. That's all it took at Georgia for him to prove that he was one of the best quarterbacks in college football, and that is all he needs in the NFL too.
He hasn't gotten that chance yet, and he won't be a starter this season either thanks to Matthew Stafford. But he reportedly is having a great training camp and proving once again that he deserves to be on a team that will actually give him a chance to start.
Rams are going all in on Stetson Bennett as their backup QB
Bennett has a new battle on his hands after Ty Simpson was drafted in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the LA Rams. Bennett has been the Rams third string QB since he was drafted three years ago, but now he has a chance to compete to become their backup to Stafford.
Many NFL fans assumed that job was Simpson's to lose since the Rams spent a first round pick on him. Bennett however is proving them wrong as he’s been running with the starters throughout parts of training camp.
Stafford will be the Rams starter this season, but they are limiting him throughout training camp and preseason to keep him healthy. So the fact that Bennett is getting extra reps with the starters shows that he has surged past Simpson for the backup quarterback job as of now.
5-star Kameron McGee is planning a big trip to Georgia
The No. 1 overall recruit in the 2028 recruiting class is five-star EDGE Kameron McGee. He obviously has countless of the best programs in the country pursuing him, but Georgia has been one of the staples he’s been most interested in.
He recently spoke about his recruitment in general and ended up talking in great length about Georgia. And during that conversation he revealed that he’s going to try and visit Athens for their matchup against Auburn.
This will be a great chance for Georgia to make a move to the top of his recruitment. A big victory against Auburn would go a long way in helping convince him to come to Georgia, conversely though if they somehow lost he could right Georgia off completely.
This visit is crucial for Georgia. They already hold a commitment from the No. 2 overall recruit in quarterback Jayden Wade, so adding McGee would give them a great chance to sign the No. 1 recruiting class in the country.
Gunner Stockton, Nate Frazier named to Maxwell Award Preseason Watchlist
On Monday the Maxwell Award released their preseason watchlist. Around 80 players were included on this list with Gunner Stockton and Nate Frazier being the two Bulldogs to make the cut.
The Maxwell Award goes to the nation's No. 1 college football player every year. It is essentially just like the Heisman Trophy, so being on the watchlist is a good indicator of who's going to have a great season.
Stockton and Frazier have a chance to be a special duo this season. They've both already proven themselves multiple times on the big stage, and seeing them both on this watchlist indicates that they are one big year away from becoming one of the best offensive duos in Georgia football history.
