Every season Georgia's matchup against Auburn is one of the biggest games of the year, and that will be no different this season. The Bulldogs welcome Auburn to Athens on Oct. 17, but they won't be the only important visit happening on this day.
The No. 1 recruit in the 2028 recruiting class is EDGE Kameron McGee, and he just shared a big update in his recruitment about how he has been growing a lot closer to Georgia recently. In that update he shared that he plans on visiting Athens when they host Auburn, and that immediately makes this game that much more important.

The Auburn game is one of Georgia's most important matchups every season. Auburn hasn't been much of a threat in the SEC during the last decade, but as one of Georgia's rivals they are always an important team to beat.
That will be even more true if McGee visits Athens during this game.
If Georgia can dominate Auburn and get a big win on the field that will only increase their chances of winning McGee's recruitment. If however they struggle or somehow lose then that could immediately end McGee's interest in Georgia.
The good news for Georgia is that they've beat Auburn nine times in a row. Eight of those nine wins have been by double digits as well, so if Georgia can keep that trend alive then they should put themselves in a great position to land McGee.
Kameron McGee would make Georgia's 2028 recruiting class special
Right now Georgia has two commits in the 2028 recruiting class. That is good enough to give them the No. 5 class in the country since it is so early in the 2028 cycle, but adding McGee to their class would help them potentially sign the No. 1 recruiting class in the country.
Georgia hasn't signed the top class in the country since 2024. That hasn't been that long, but with Georgia barely inside the top 10 with the 2027 class they will want to bounce back with the 2028 class.
McGee is the key for Georgia to sign the No. 1 class. Their two current commits are five-star quarterback Jayden Wade who is the No. 2 overall recruit in the country and tight end Asa Wall who is the No. 120 player in the country. That is clearly a great start for Georgia, but adding McGee would make it even better.
Imagine having the No. 1 and No. 2 overall recruit in the country both committed to Georgia. That could be their reality if they end up landing McGee, and a big win against Auburn this season could go a long way.
Georgia's biggest competition in his recruitment right now are Notre Dame, Oregon and Miami. The Irish are the perceived favorite right now, but his visit to Athens later this fall could be Georgia's chance to cement themselves as McGee's top choice.
